While SongHi had temporarily laid me off in 2011, Tiina Järvinen, who then worked at the Minä Olen shop in Hämeentie 68, started ringing my phone. She needed advice and assistance with her Mac Mini & overall OS X principles, as she came from a rudimentary PC background. This quickly led to me maintaining the web-shop presence for the company.
I eventually kept the three web presences (the Minä Olen magazine, exhibition and shop) up-to-date, and created their Facebook pages for further promotion of events, lectures, indexes and articles for the magazine, and the shop catalogue. Other personnel also asked me for advice on Apple Works, OS 9, browsers and OS X.
When the Minä Olen shop ceased operations, I went on to be the go-to person on all things Apple, assisting employees with their iPad, iPhone, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac etc. — from which device to purchase, to setting it up, to tutoring on the core principles of the Apple way of thinking.
I maintained contact with Booky Pikakirjakauppa and updated their database with books, DVDs and health products that the shop (now only on the web) sold through them. Since the whole company had been operated by so many different types of people, I started organizing their legacy data (e-mails, photos, magazine files, articles) into one package.
I have worked tightly with the organizers of the annual Minä Olen exhibition, keeping their various web-incarnations (1. HTML, 2. Squarespace, 3. WordPress) up-to-date — adding hundreds of exhibitor companies, dozens of articles and images of the lecturers, and keeping contact details updated at all times. I have also been tapped to create schedule slides for the exhibition with Keynote/PowerPoint, and have created mailing-lists with Mailchimp.
